PART 1: GENERAL INFORMATION

1. What do I do if I forget my password?
If you forgot your password, please click on "Forgotten Password?" and enter your email address. We'll send you an email with details of what to do next. If you still encounter problems, please email insights@mysupermarket.co.uk and we'll send you a new one. 

2. How do I start?
It's really simple. If it's your first time, just enter a brand on the homepage and you'll immediately be able to see some data about your brand and competitors. In order to request a free trial, just enter your details and we'll be in touch. If you are on the trial or subscribed, just sign in and enter a brand in the left hand panel to generate a table with all of the prices for the relevant products. You can narrow down your selection by choosing a Category from the same panel. If you wish to view the prices on a previous date, you can change the date.



Data and Information: 

3. Why can I sometimes see the prices in some supermarkets but not in others?
If an SKU is not sold by one of the supermarkets, or temporarily out of stock across the country, it will be left blank. As soon as we can after it comes back into stock, a new price will be added. 

4. Where do you get your data from?
The price and promotion data is all updated every day from the online stores of Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Ocado. Morrisons prices and promotions are updated twice a week. 

5. Do you cover all available grocery SKUs?
In general, mySupermarket contains all grocery SKUs found in any of the branches on the Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Ocado online stores. In addition, we also track a large number of Morrisons SKUs. When a new SKU is launched, it may take a few days until it appears on the list. 

6. How often are prices and promos updated?
We update the prices and promotions each day to keep them as up to date as possible. For further details, please refer to the terms and conditions. 

7. How can I find more details about promotions?
If a product is on special offer (i.e. a promotion), we highlight the price in red in the Price report. If you wish to find out more about the promotion, please move the mouse cursor over the price to see the details and expiry date flash up in a tooltip. Alternatively, export to Excel to view all promotion details.

8. How do I subscribe to more categories?

9. What additional features do I get when I subscribe?
By subscribing to mySupermarket Insights, you will gain access to many great features which can include (depending on the particular subscription):

• More categories – You can subscribe to as many categories as you like.
• Competitors – In addition to your own (or a particular brand's) SKUs, you'll be able to track competitors too.
• Historic prices & promos – You can easily change the date to any other over the past 3 years to refer to past prices and promotions.
• 52-week price trend – On the Trend tab, you can see how your prices and competitors' prices have changed over the past 13 months.
• Market Share – An extra report can be generated that shows the Market Share of any brand or SKU within its category.
• Price Impact – A further report can be generated that shows the impact that changing prices and promotions have on the Market Share of any brand or SKU.

PART 2: USING THE REPORTS

Price & Promotion Report: 

10. What information can I access in the Price tab?
You can see the prices of all of a brand's SKUs in Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Ocado, and many in Morrisons. You can also choose to see the prices of any other brands (such as your competitors' brands). When a price is highlighted in red, it means there is a special offer (i.e. a promotion). Move the mouse over the price to see the details of the promotion and expiry date. If a product is not listed or there is no price, it means that it cannot currently be located in any of the delivery branches. The small arrows indicate that the price is either higher or lower than it was 7 days ago. 

11. Can I find out about competing brands?
Yes. You can type the name of any other brand in the search box. Alternatively, while viewing your primary selected brand (which will probably be, at your option, your own brand), you have two options within the section titled 'Include Competitors'. If you tick 'All brands', the table will be populated with all competing SKUs. If you click on 'Selected competitors', the table will be filled with brands that you choose. To edit the list of brands, click on 'Select'. Your settings will be saved to your account and can be updated whenever you like. 

12. How can I sort the table?
The table will initially be in alphabetical order. You can order by any of the price columns (either from lowest price up or highest price down) by clicking on the supermarket logos. Click again to change the direction of the sort. 

13. Can I search for a specific product or group of products within the table?
Yes. Just enter your search terms in the box and click "Find". When you have a long list it is the quickest way to find either a specific SKU or range of SKUs. 

14. What are the red numbers?
When a price is in red, it indicates that there is a special offer (i.e. a promotion). Roll the mouse over the price for details and the expiry date. 

15. What does 'Highlight Cheapest' mean?
If you click on the 'Highlight Cheapest' option just above the price comparison table, we will highlight the cheapest available price for each product. If it is joint cheapest in more than one supermarket, they will both be highlighted. If you no longer want to highlight the cheapest price, simply click on 'Remove Highlight Cheapest'. 

16. What do the small arrows mean alongside the prices?
The arrows indicate that the price is either higher or lower than it was 7 days ago. Please move the mouse cursor over the arrow to see the price last week and the percentage change. 

17. How can I filter the list to show price changes and promos?
Right above the table you'll see three small links. By clicking on 'Promotions' you'll filter the list to show only SKUs that are on promotion in at least one of the supermarkets. If you click on 'Price Change' the list will be filtered to show only SKUs where the price has changed in at least one supermarket over the past week. 

18. Why can't I find all SKUs within the table?
In general, mySupermarket contains all grocery SKUs found in any of the branches on the Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Ocado online stores. In addition, we track a large number of Morrisons SKUs. Firstly, make sure that you haven't missed it. You can order SKUs alphabetically to make sure that you've checked them all or alternatively use the Find box above the table to search for a specific brand, range or even quantity. When there are too many SKUs to fit on one page, you will have the option at the foot of the page to view additional pages. If it is out of stock across the whole country, it won't be included in the table. If it is a very new SKU to have arrived on the market, it may take several days to add to the system. 

19. Can I filter the table to only show SKUs on promotion or where the price has changed?
Yes. Above the supermarket logos, you'll see a couple of links that will filter out some SKUs. This way you can view only SKUs where the price in at least one of the supermarkets has changed since 7 days ago, or SKUs on promotion at one of the supermarkets. To return to viewing all SKUs, simply click on "Show All". 

20. Can I check prices from previous dates?
Very easily. Once you are subscribed, all you need to do is change the date in the box above the price comparison table.



Price Trend Report: 

21. What does the price trend report show?
Where a price trend report is available, you can use this report to view the trend by brand or by SKU. The default setting is by brand. The graph shows you the percentage change over the time period selected, or you can change it so that the graph shows the average price over time. You can also change the supermarket and time period using the navigation on the right (although this report may not be available for some supermarkets).
The table below the graph shows the lowest price, highest price and average price for each SKU over the selected period of time.
There are 2 export buttons. One exports the table as you see below, while the other gives you a full price history for each of the SKUs over the selected period. 

22. Can I export the trend data?
You can export to Excel to generate a report that includes the price for every data point you selected. For example, a 52-week trend will include 52 prices for each SKU. Alternatively you can export the graph and table to powerpoint, PDF or JPEG. 

23. How can I view the price trend for an individual SKU?
You can drill down to view the price trend for individual SKUs by clicking on the SKU name in the table below. When you click on it, the graph will show the trend for that individual product. The table below shows the price and promotion throughout the selected period. The data can be exported by clicking on the "Export" button. 

24. How can I track the price trend for another brand?
One way to do this is to enter the name in the Brand box on the left panel. Alternatively, you can tick the 'All brands' box to see a trend for the entire category or 'Selected Competitors' box for specific brands. 

25. How do I check the price on a specific date on the price trend report?
When viewing the SKU price trend graph, you can check the price on a specific date by simply rolling your mouse over the data points along the graph to view a tooltip with the price and promotion. Alternatively, scroll down to view the table. If you are viewing the graph for a specific SKU you may occasionally see red data points. This means that there was a promotion on that day. The tooltip will give you details of the promotion. 

26. Can I track offers over time?
Yes. When viewing the data at SKU level, simply roll your mouse over the data points along the graph to view a tooltip with the price and promotion on that day. Alternatively, when viewing a SKU price trend graph, scroll down to see promotions in the table below, or export to Excel.



Market Share Report: 

27. What does the Market Share report show?
Where a Market Share report is available, you can use this report to show the percentage Market Share, measured either by value or units, of any brand or SKU within its category or sub-category. The data that powers this report is sourced from the mySupermarket.co.uk panel, a sample of approximately 50,000 monthly online orders processed via the site to Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Ocado. Learn more (Accordingly, this report may not be available for some supermarkets which are not on the mySupermarket.co.uk panel.) 

28. What does the Pie Chart show?
The Pie Chart summarises the overall Market Share based on supermarkets on the mySupermarket.co.uk panel (i.e. currently, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Ocado). You can select to view any time period – the two default options are the last 13 or 52 weeks, but you have the option to select any start and end date. Learn more 

29. What does the table show?
The table not only shows you the overall Market Share, but also breaks it down by supermarket (for supermarkets on the mySupermarket.co.uk panel i.e. currently, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Ocado). This helps you compare and contrast between the supermarkets how brands and SKUs are performing. Learn more 

30. Can I view Market Share of individual SKUs as well as brands?
Yes. The table has two views – either by Brand or SKU. You can export either of these reports to Excel format for further analysis. Learn more 

31. Why is there no Market Share data for Waitrose or Morrisons?
The Market Share data is sourced from the mySupermarket.co.uk panel. Currently, shoppers at mySupermarket.co.uk can choose from Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's and Ocado, but not from Waitrose or Morrisons.



Price Impact Report 

32. What does the Price Impact report show?
Where a Price Impact report is available, you can use this report to bring together price and promotion data with Market Share, showing you the impact that price changes have on sales. The data is updated daily so that you can see the impact in real-time. Learn more

(Please note that this report may not be available for some supermarkets which are not on the mySupermarket.co.uk panel. The supermarkets on that panel are currently Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Ocado.) 

33. What does the graph show?
The blue line represents the Price Trend over the selected period. The green line shows the Market Share trend, either of the selected brand or SKU. If you move the mouse over any of the dots on the graph, a tooltip will show you the average price and Market Share on that specific week. Learn more 

34. What does the table show?
When viewing the Price Impact for a brand, the table contains three tabs:

• SKUs – Lists all the SKUs within the brand showing the average price during the selected period and the Market Share. To drill down to the SKU, simply click on the product name.
• Weeks – Summarises the week by week average price and Market Share for the selected brand.
• Price Points – Rather than splitting the selected period into weeks, this view divides it between periods of time where the price remained stable. This shows you the Market Share when the brand was at a certain price point. The Price Points are also marked on the graph with small flags.

Note that when viewing the Price Impact for a specific SKU, the table contains just two tabs – Weeks and Price Points Learn more 

35. What are "Price Points"?
Price Points divide the selected time period into smaller periods of time where the price remained stable. This shows you the Market Share when the brand was at a certain price point e.g. while the price of a specific SKU was at £1.50, its Market Share was 2.3%; however when it dropped to £1, Market Share rose to 3.1%. The Price Points are also marked on the graph with small flags and when you place the mouse cursor over a flag, the entire Price Point is highlighted. 36. Can I view the Price Impact of individual SKUs as well as brands?
Yes. Like the Price Trend report, you can view Price Impact for either brands or individual SKUs. When viewing the brand report, the table below contains a list of all SKUs within the brand and selected category. If you click on the name of a SKU, you are taken through to the SKU Price Impact report. Learn more 

37. What does it mean when there is a message above the graph that says it is based on "Limited Data"?
We flag "Limited Data" in cases where the results of a requested report are based on a small sample of data. This is most common with less popular brands or SKUs or when the selected time period is short. 

38. Why is there no Price Impact data for Waitrose or Morrisons?
The market share data within the Price Impact report is sourced from the mySupermarket.co.uk panel. Currently, shoppers at mySupermarket.co.uk can choose from Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's and Ocado, but not from Waitrose or Morrisons.
